Hi Folks,

Recently I went to see the above mentioned musical in the O2 in Dublin, as Philip starred as a cast member over 30years ago.

The show was quite extraordinary, if anyone did not know the story line they would be very confused. Not many special effects but good overall.

Shannon Cole played Parson Nathanial the part Philip Played on the audio version and have to say he did the part justice and I think Philip would have approved.

The Spirit of the Man was definitely in the room as hecklers shouted out Philip Lynotts name on a couple of occasions but unfortunately there was no mention of his name from the stage which I found disappointing.

Philip did however get a mention in the programme only referenced in the rear pages as part of Sony orginal CD line up.

The show got a thumbs up from me and my wife and associates of Philomena but I do think they should have at least mentioned Dublin's own or at least remembered him as they did Richard Burton.

What do you think ? Its nearly 25 years since his passing, are people forgetting or just ignoring the fact!
Saw this production when it first played in London and often take the DVD out.

The fact that the recent production started in Dublin in the O2 should have meant at least a curtsy to Philips contribution I suppose however, audience members calling out Philips name during The Spirit of Man, for me, showed that he is certainly not forgotten. Sadly I had to sell my tickets to the Dublin show so I missed it.

It should also be remembered that Richard Burtons role in the production was pivotal as he was the voice of the narrator while the Parson was a lesser role. Jeff Wayne recalled in an interview that Philip was good to work with during the making of the album. He said he was professional in his approach but that was pretty much it. He puts this down to the fact that Philip and the band were on top of their game at the time and so had a lot going on.

If you dont already have it, pick up the extended version of the WOTW in which you get some outtakes of Philip and the various other cast members
